Time to paint

0 min read
I've not done nearly enough painting in the last couple of years.  I've got a bit of downtime available at the moment so I'm going to make an effort to paint more while I have the chance. I'm going to set myself a goal of making a tangible improvement (just for personal satisfaction) so I must go back and re-learn some of the fundamentals, one of which is colour theory.  I understand some of the basics, I'm missing the practical implementation I think so I need to do that to achieve my goal.

Just finished my latest piece. Still working on drawing and colouring techniques though I seem to have found a style and process I like working with now. Mostly I will block in a shape as if painting (clocking in rough "flats" really) and use that as a guide onto which I will draw the lineart. Then I'll flat it on a separate layer going quite dark and building light up on top of this in another layer - the book "Mastering HI-FI digital colouring" was a really good source of the different methods available. The last piece went quite smoothly but still took ages in calendar terms as I just worked on it when I felt like it.  It's been nearly

I have just laid down some money for a Wacom Intuos4 tablet, I am hugely impressed with the Bamboo compared to what I had before but have since wondered how good the rather expensive professional tablets are. I did try and demo one before I bought the Bamboo but couldn't find one to try and as it was a lot of money for me, I went with the cheaper option, of course it would have been better to have just gone that way initially but without being able to try any of the models it was too big a risk. I have now found a very helpful store http://www.digitalstoremanchester.co.uk/store/Home.html who let me demo the new Bamboo model and the Intuos4,

Thanks for watch
You're welcome, you have some really great stuff.
I Have A Question?
Can you Send Me The Link Where You got your Extra Brushes For Sai?
And Tell Me How To Put It In My Paint Tool Sai?
Hi PandaChey

Most of the brushes came in the fan made translation pack before there was a developer supported English version.
It's available here: [link]

It uses the same license file as purchased from the developer so I'm pretty sure you can just re-install over the top to use this "enhanced" version of the program instead.

I also tend to make my own brushes for certain tasks, these are just tweaked and saved versions of the standard ones.
There's a very handy tutorial here on dA for SAI: [link]

If you're looking for the actual files, it doesn't install like a standard program so they're hard to find. On my W7 machine they are here;
"C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Zame\PaintTool SAI English Pack"

Brushes are actually just text .ini files if you want to go digging through them to see how they're configured, but it's not necessary!

I hope that helps? Feel free to ask if anything isn't clear.
Thanks for the watch
